When purchasing an area rug, here are a few things to consider.
1) The listed size is not always the actual size - be prepared for the actual size to be a few inches longer or shorter on each side.

Make sure your rug is thin enough to go under any door that might swing on top of it.
4) Wool rugs can shed fibers for up to 6 months, which is normal, so you might need to vacuum your new rug more often than usual when you first receive it.

For a living room, determine whether you want all of the furniture on the rug, the furniture partially on the rug, or the furniture not on the rug (do not have some furniture pieces on the rug and others not on the rug).
I prefer having all of the furniture on top of the rug in most cases.
